Interim and project mandates, 2010 to 2020
Chartered Accountant CA(SA). Financial management, strategic modelling and commercial monetisation in SME and growth businesses.
Interim and project mandates, usually alongside a transaction: a listing, a capital raise, a buy-out, or the build of a finance function that did not yet exist.
Amalgamated Electronic Corporation Limited
Strategic business adviser and non-executive board director
I introduced an investor consortium to the transaction and executed the buy-out of a controlling equity stake on their behalf, structuring and implementing the commercial terms and negotiating a securitised debt facility and mezzanine funding.
On the board I worked with the CEO on strategy, restructured the finance function, and recruited a commercial CFO to join us.
Renergen Limited
Strategic CFO and business development adviser to the executive team
I ran the execution of all JSE listing requirements, compiling the regulatory, compliance and pre-listing financial information alongside the listing attorneys and reporting accountants.
I took the investor roadshow out, prepared the financial due diligence pack with the CEO, and we listed Renergen on the JSE AltX on 9 June 2015. I held the interim CFO function through the listing and after it.
Renergen was acquired by ASP Isotopes and delisted from the JSE in January 2026.
Avacare Health
Strategic commercial development, reporting to the CEO and COO
I worked with the Chief Operating Officer on a corporate development strategy built around financial performance metrics and benchmarks, and advised on growth in gross margin.
I built reporting structures for both the board and the management team, covering operational performance across multiple countries and group entities.
Discover Digital · Mykagami
Strategic financial management
Origination, build and execution of the business plan, financial model, metrics and assumptions behind the strategy for a new venture. At Mykagami this meant stress-testing a complex financial model for a SaaS marketplace start-up and challenging the assumptions underneath it.
2010–20
Vegas Kings and associated ventures
Strategic financial adviser and entrepreneurial business partner
Fifteen years working alongside Moshe Adir across a series of internet and online ventures, first in London and later across both markets, as adviser and as partner rather than as an arm's length service provider.
The work spanned structuring the operation, the financial detail on each project, and the commercial thinking around marketing, analytics and product.
How I worked
I set and measured Objectives and Key Results to align deliverables and motivate teams, and Key Performance Indicators to read the financial outcome. I spent a lot of time on cash management, because growth businesses do not fail from lack of profit, they fail from lack of liquidity.
My value was as a creative problem solver: originating commercial opportunities and redesigning business processes to accelerate sustainable growth in revenue and cash flow. I worked best in teams where every member had a voice regardless of title, and across functions, third-party providers and customers.
